ITALIAN engineering and electronics firm, Efesto have unveiled a bonkers conversion kit for the now-defunct 1299 Panigale that turns the machine into a hybrid!

The kit is called the Efesto 200 Novantanove Hybrid Kit, which simply by bolting on to the bike is claimed to increase power by 100hp and torque by over 110ft-lb.

The kit has four modes that the rider can select for the given riding scenario, Pure Thermic, Pure Electric, Boost and Custom. Pure Thermic lets the L-Twin engine do all the talking while recharging the battery by regenerative braking or acting as a generator. Pure electric is a 40-minute all-electric commuting mode where the throttle controls only the electric motor that lets you run at a max 45 mph. Boost mode takes advantage of both the L-Twin and the electric motor combining the power and torque to produce the maximum 300 hp and 218 lb-ft of torque. Custom mode lets the rider set the desired combination of torque and power of the hybrid power unit.

As you’d expect with this kind of modification, the kit is a little more than just a plug and play modification, as the electric motor mounts under the swingarm, with the power transmitted to the rear wheel via secondary drive shaft and chain setup.

The extra chunky rear end – almost Ducati MotoGP lunchbox looking – houses the battery and assorted electronics. In total the kit adds around 25kg to the bike, meaning that the bike’s power to weight ratio skyrockets thanks to the massive amounts of power introduced for relatively small amounts of extra bulk.

There is no word on pricing for the kit as yet, more on that as we have it.
