Triumph Street Triple R to get new facelift treatment

The updated 2020 Triumph Street Triple R is set to be brought into line with its siblings with a refreshed look and a Euro 5 compliant engine tweak

2019 Triumph Street Triple R

The 2020 Triumph Street Triple R is set to become the third and final model in the range to get the new facelift treatment, following on from the already launched RS and S models.

Having debuted a new more aggressive family face with the launch of the 2020 Street Triple RS, the A2-legal Street Triple S received the same treatment soon afterwards, making the arrival of the mid-range R only a matter of time.

For now, Triumph is giving relatively little away beyond a teaser shot of the rear-quarter and a launch date of Tuesday February 11, but we can expect the model to bear the same striking appearance as the flagship model.

Triumph is yet to confirm whether there will be many changes under the skin or whether it will get a few more electronic goodies as shared with the RS. However, the 116bhp at 12000rpm power output is set to remain the same, albeit now brought up to Euro 5 regulations.

What can we expect from Triumph in 2020?

It’s been a busy few months for Triumph as it goes through the process of updating a significant portion of its range with the new Rocket 3, Street Triple RS/S and updated Tiger 900 all hitting the road in the last few weeks.

It comes as Triumph looks set to embark on a significant new model offensive in the next couple of years to make the most of its new manufacturing agreement with Indian firm Bajaj.

One part an attempt to give Triumph a more convincing foothold in Asian markets by producing some models locally, it is also set to see the British firm develop an new range of mid-range capacity models that will make it over to the UK and Europe.

We’ll have to wait to find out which models they will be exactly, but a 400cc range Street naked and Tiger ADV are predicted among the plans.
