SUZUKI has just announced the price of the new 2017 GSX-R1000 at £13,249, while the higher-spec 2017 GSX-R1000R will set prospective buyers back a few grand more, fetching a price of £16,099.
That makes the starting price nearly £2,000 cheaper than the base edition of the 2017 Honda Fireblade, which is available to buy for a cool £15,225.
Meanwhile the GSX-R1000R is over £3,000 cheaper than the Fireblade SP.
Both versions of the all-new GSX-R make a claimed 202hp and feature 10-mode traction control and ABS that controls rear wheel lift under heavy braking.
The GSX-RR also has an inertial measurement unit controlling cornering ABS, plus launch control, a bi-directional quick-shifter and an auto-blipper.
The GSX-R1000 is due to arrive in dealerships in late March and the GSX-R1000R is set to arrive in May.
