HUSQVARNA is boasting more and torque for its 2017 701 models, featuring the ‘most powerful single-cylinder engine ever developed’.
The updated 701 Supermoto (picture above) and Enduro make a claimed 6hp and 2.2lbft more than their predecessors while meeting strict Euro IV emission levels.
That means the 692.7cc single-cylinder plant shared by both models will make 74hp at 8,000rpm and 52.4lbft at 6,750rpm.
The engine also retains 6,000-mile service intervals.
The four-valve cylinder head has twin spark ignition with single overhead camshaft allowing for more exact valve timing at higher engine speeds.
Husqvarna says its engineers have added an extra 1,000rpm of usable power.
The 2017 incarnation also gains a second counter balancer-shaft to reduce vibrations to the rider through the seat, handlebars and footrests.
The throttle response promises to be smoothed out thanks to Keihin electronic fuel injection with a new 50mm throttle body.
