Ducati has launched a commemorative edition of its iconic naked bike, honouring one of Formula One’s most famous champions.

The Ducati Monster Senna edition is inspired by the Brazilian driver’s instantly recognisable helmet design, with bright yellow as the main colour, and green and dark blue accents across the bike. Making the bike even more eye-catching is the addition of bright yellow Brembo Stylema brake callipers, which quite frankly we think should be rolled out across all models!

The bike also features a yellow belly pan, fly-screen detailing, yellow, green, and blue wheel tape, and yellow accents on the stacked Termingnoni exhausts. There’s also Senna’s distinctive branding and logo on the bodywork of the new machine.

The Senna edition has come about thanks to Senna’s love for riding motorcycles, he was a well-known Ducatisti, owning an original Monster, 916, and some MV Agustas over the years. And this isn’t the first Ducati-made bike to wear the three-time F1 champion’s name, as Ducati produced 916 Senna editions in the mid-1990s.

Technically, the new bike uses the same 937cc engine as the standard Monster, meaning a power output of 111bhp. The overall weight is 4kg lower than the standard bike thanks to the inclusion of a lithium battery and aluminium footrests, meaning this model is closer to the spec of the Monster SP.

The bike has a UK price of £23,500 and just 341 are being produced. The number produced recalls the number of championships Senna won (three) and the number of Formula One Grand Prix races he triumphed in (41). Each bike will come with an engraved plaque on the top clamp and a certificate of authenticity.
