Speed Triple gets mean

With a major service and a few new additions, the Speed Triple looks more street fighter than ever.

I headed up the M1 this week to the Triumph Factory in Hinckley. The Speed Triple was due its 12000 mile major service and the workshop also had some new shiny bits to add to the bike for me.

Service intervals are every 6000 miles which is more than bearable but the major service will cost you around £450. For that you get all the fluids changed, break pads, filters, plugs all replaced but the main cost comes from the extra labour. They check the valve clearances and just about every other part of the bike that moves. The end result is the Triple feels fresh, sharp and lean once again.

With the addition of a colour matched belly pan (£166) and finally a street fighter bar end mirror (£64) the bike looks more complete now. I always felt the Belly pan would tie everything in together and I’m not at all disappointed with the look….even if it is the smallest belly pan I’ve ever seen.

The Mirror actually works too which is helpful, if not a tad surprising. Taking off the standard mirrors has made a massive difference to front end of the bike, its really opened things up and made things feel ‘proper street fighter like’

What have you done with your Speed Triple? anything you would do to mine to improve it?

Just bought the same bike here in Australia; really pleased with it. Reckon the belly pan sets it off, so I am out to buy one. Can you tell me a good aftermarket brand, or is the one you fitted a genuine triumph? Also have found quite a few on ebay UK, but don't seem to be supplied with fitting kit. Did you have much trouble fitting yours, and are there many brackets? Just to buy the genuine one over here is over 300 pounds and doesn't look as nice.

Now that you've had the bar end mirrors for awhile how do you find them when filtering in London? To me they really take the bike to the next level in the looks department but I have this vision of me trying to squeeze the bar ends around the side mirrors of cars in londons traffic.

Bike is looking awesome!
