Helmut Dähne is the fastest man around the true Nordschleife course before the circuit was changed, as lap times are now taken from the 'bridge to gantry'.
German, Helmut Dähne set the 07:49.71 minute lap in 1993 on a Honda RC30. This onboard lap was filmed after his record breaking lap, even with the huge camera equipment on the VFR750R Dähne only lost 10 seconds on his fastest lap.
Unless you can speak fluent German it's more advisable to watch the onboard lap with the sound muted or crack open iTunes and stick on some suitable riding music.
