Mad Lambretta on steroids. Video

At least he's not giving us bikers a bad name...

No info on this Lambretta but we reckon it's running a two-stroke enduro motor (count the gear changes) in place of the old Lambretta engine and three speed box. It sounds fit and healthy, anyway. The venue is the Hardknott pass in the Lake District.

If you come across this scooter on your Sunday ride out, don't be surprised if it leaves you for dead in a cloud of blue smoke...

kev speed
lambrettas have 4 gears, you can get a five speed conversion, this is nothing new for us who know about lambrettas. im hitting 87-88 on GPS easily these days, watercooled jackets, jap con rods pistons and race cranks, uprated 5-6 plate clutches etc, you out of touch mate by 40 years or so, sounds like a TS or RB top end, nicasil/ceramic lined barrels inspired from jet ski and snow mobiles, built exclusively for lambretta's

Still scary things with little wheels though aren't they :-)

Unfortunately and contrary to the title of this feature, real 'bikers' will be tarnished with the same disrespect that drivers no doubt felt toward this scooter rider. He/she forced a two wheeled machine against the flow of ordinary motorists. It wasn't clever, it wasn't big - it was stupid and selfish and I doubt is typical of normal scooter riders. I stand by my first statement.
Cock-a-doodle-do!!

I agree with your sentiment. The rider is a bit of a legend within scootering circles, however there are lots of videos around showing him riding like a fkin idiot. Mainly speeding on public roads, overtaking on blind corners, forcing drivers to take evasive manoeuvres

The sad thing is, despite most Lambretta riders being middle aged to old men, many of them think its cool to see someone acting dangerously on the road on a Lambretta, yet at the same time are the first to complain if a driver pulls out on one of them.

Its a shame, because this rider actually does speak up a lot for road safety for scooter riders, I just wish he would use his head first, before posting videos of himself riding like a delinquent 16 year old.

Dryballs
"real 'bikers'"????

Just because someone likes a certain style of two wheeled machine doesnt preclude them from being part of the larger motorcycling community does it?

I have 3 lambrettas and a vespa, but I bet I know more about motorcycling than you! I follow all motorcycle racing, work on my own bikes as well as other peoples 'real' bikes.

I bet you ride some chinese piece of crap 125.. called a wongdong

bye

p.s.
I also have a 1000cc 'real' bike... its a daily dissapointment that I get lumped in with tossers like you

Septikangel, you are not wrong. I drive scooters, all with standard engines. Watching that my heart was in my mouth. Crazy driving and nothing to be proud of. All 2 wheeled riders will be tarnished by that.

However, I don't like the real bikers v's scooter rivalry. We all enjoy our bikes, lets just appreciate each other.

Posted: 22/10/2010 at 15:51

real lambrettist
It's a CR-250 or YZ-250 engine, Series 6 Frank Sanderson frame and engine conversion.

That was part of the C2C run.

None of the cars "took evasive action". Maybe the red car was, but wtf was he doing veering to the right of the road? Especially when being overtaken?

The scooter only got into the power band maybe once and if anything he was holding back on the throttle.

Its been bored to just under 300cc and is quite an eye opener for a Lambretta rider, had a pillion on it it and it goes rather well =D

whils i will agree with a lt of comments both poss and neg, i must say, it tends to be the weekend warrior scooter and flower arranger bike riders that moan on about both sets. old skool skooter boys and greebo's have never had a disageement, we just love riding and the life. to the extent of even AND GET THIS RIDNG WHEN IT RAINS.... lol ;-D

Lord Dread Lochaber, great user name, great sentiment.

Can this be the end of the petty squabbling, please? Engine and two wheels? It's all good...
