I think there might be a wheel hidden somewhere. Most motorcycles have two.
I'm a Geordie now resident in the US and I've been following flat track for about 3 years . The Springfield Mile was a couple of weeks ago and fantastic racing. It's a nice 100 mile run for me so a great weekend trip.
By the way lap times on the mile oval are around 35 seconds, so you can work the speed out for yourself. Forget visions of speedway - the field was 18 bikes over 25 laps with the lead changing every time they went down a straight (slipstreaming) and the winner was third coming into the last corner and got it by a wheel's width. Oh and they usually only have on hand on the bars on the straights to improve aerodynamics. Wonderful stuff.
