chain first. Take the thing out for a ride so that you get the noise.Whack it up on the centre-stand / paddock stand, take off the front sprocket cover and check that you get the "tick". Then whip off the front sprocket, and the final drive chain

it, it's a waste of time.I get my bike on the stand and remove the front sprocket cover. Give everything a good wash with paraffin, dry with an old towel and re-lube.I use Rocol anti-scuffing paste from a tin. It's a high shear grease for tight

Noisy clutch (I think???)

for a few seconds until the revs come down again and the clutch starts to bite.I'd check that the wheels and brakes are free when the bike's on the stand,and make sure the chain is rubbing on the swinging arm or under the front sprocket cover. What bike

Putting oil back in your bike.

Guys,I have been having trouble with changing my chain and sprockets. You have to drain the oil before opening the sprocket cover as the oil filler meets the oil resevoir. I replaced the oil the first time I tried to change the sprockets

LC4 output shaft seal

, tools to remove the rear wheel, front sprocket cover and front sprocket (possibly a great big socket), a new front sprocket tab washer (possibly), paddock stand (if you don't have a centrestand) and, unless your bike is of the 500cc-or-less commuting

whipped the cover off and found a large piece of metal (the clutch piston cover) floating around in there. And....the sprocket teeth are all sort of hooked and the nut which holds it on is loose but held by the bent up washer thing. Thank fuck I checked
