'cept in this case the brain dead mongs are correct, and you er...aren't. Weight does effect top speed.

Adam K wrotelose some weight and it might go faster.'Weight' doesn't affect top speed - only acceleration.

Mr. Dazzle wroteI did write it all, up there ^.Quite simply, weight does effect top speed. I said why too.You just assumed I was talking about acceleration, which I wasn't.Of course weight will affect top speed. Try towing a car with a truck and you will get to the trucks top speed effortlessly. Now try towing a truck with a car. You might get it moving if the clutch will take the load, but you sure as hell wont be going anywhere very fast.

what do you lot recon a cbf250's top speed should be? just wondering cos mine seems slower than i expected.

When they came out, I rememebr MCN testing them at about 85. Only the 2 stroke 250s could top 90.Any higher recorded speeds are due to optimistic speedos and riders

Simple. You said in your first post on this thread:"Weight doesn't effect top speed - Only Acceleration"You're wrong.

FJSRiDER wroteIt would certainly matter less if the horse had more than one horsepower. Stop picking on FJSRiDER when he's right, guys!Except for a mostly theoretical increase in tyre and bearing drag, the weight of your huge gut won't affect the eventual top speed. Weight means fatness, though, and that means more air resistance, which can massacre your top speed. The poor horse has to carry the weight of the jockey by musclepower, even when not racing, remember.

Mr. Dazzle wroteWeight does effect top speed.Even you can do this simple experiment.Take a heavy touring bike, loaded with luggage and a passenger, and time how long it takes to reach its top speed at some long straight airfield. Then remove all the luggage (and passenger) and unscrew as much as possible of unnecessary material from the bike and time yourself again. Are you suggesting that it will take just as long to get to the bikes terminal velocity or are you going to suggest I have to read something else you haven't written?
