Totally dependant upon circumstances my birth certificate shows my step dad as my father as he adopted me so i would have known no different if they hadnt told me in some ways i wish they never did!!! Does his Bio father want to have a relationship with him? if he doesnt why rock the boat? i was always told that he was my step dad not just at the age of 7 but i rebelled even though to me it was the 'norm' in fact it was a family tree at school that started the problems because i was told that because he was my step dad i had to add an extended family tree and this made me feel like an outsider!!!!
