Virago 1100 has more than enough power and sounds brilliant with straigh through pipes. My brother has one and it is a good one, even though it is a "cruiser" style bike. Not my style, but comfortable and great for all day riding.
Not into cruisers myself, but my other half was an adict for a couple of years, here's what I learnt while working with her addiction Don't get the 650 Drag Star, nice bike, but heavy and well under powered, the 1100 is heavier again, but feels like it's got loads more power. The Yank cruiser mags rave about the Kawasaki 900, think it's called the Vulcan over there.Unless it has to be a Hawg, go for Japanese, they're cheaper and tend to stay in one piece for longer, although the newer HDs are, I'm told, better build quality. As you're in Sydney, I assume Australia, you'll not have the biggest problem with any cruiser, road salt...... Last point, get used to having a lump on the back of your head, every time you work on the damn things the handlebars will find a way to crack you one on the back of the nut
