did you fix it?Just out of interest I moved to a netgear wireless router (DG834G) recently. Didn't think anything of it really. Came from AOL. Since then I've been having major issues with the fecking thing acquiring DSL. Sometime it does, sometimes it doesn't. Turns out from the help boards that there's a known DSL issue with this model & needs flashing with the latest firmware. It's all fine now. Nice of AOL to mention this-their help boards are full of angry people with connection issues.
tell me exactly how to extract what you need from my router & more importantly how to post it up here & I'll do it. All working fine on AOL as I type.I hesitate to even mention this, but it was you who popped an issue when I was setting up my own network-nothing silly, accidentally, set up on any software firewalls? Reset AOL passwords are 7 characters. HTH
lynne wroteI have AOL and on my router the multiplexing is LLC, not VCThe MTU size is 1492, not 1400.I hope these help!mine is netgear & multi-plexing is VC based. The MTU is 1400 & this is allegedly vital for AOL. I had the same issue with IE not connecting, & resetting the MTU to 1400 fixed this. Hopefully it'll be an easy fix for you! What is QOS?Ah, thought. I have a teeny app on this laptop called (turns page) Dr TCP which sets the MTU to, errr 1450. Hmmm. Well the laptop works on IE, FF & Opera. Try that maybe?

Are your other settings the same as the ones I mentioned in my second post in this thread?QuoteWhat is QOS?I assume it's quality of service, if it's the same thing as in your network protocols it's about reporting back to 'wherever' with details on how your connection is doing. Try that maybe? Can't see that helping since two laptops suddenly stopped working at the same time.
