What did you do first? I'm thinking probably floor, insulation, water inlets, mains hookup, lights, stuff like that? I've screwed up 4 times now with conversion, mainly through lack of ability but I'd like this one to actually get finished and with a resonable level of professionalism. Any hints, things to avoid?

I did a conversion on a (old style flat front) VW LT45.It was big enough to stand up in the back of, so i made fold down beds for it and bought a bed settee for about £50, so you could use the settee for the day and throw the bed bit out at night, it would sleep three people comfortably.Mine was already panelled, so i just removed the panels, drilled out all the holes i needed in the spars to pass cables through, i even put a weather proof double socket on the outside, so i could plug the tyre warmers in etc.Got an old sink unit from a caravan, which had the 3 way fridge, twin hobs with grill and oven along with the sink all in one unit.I also cut out the middle of he cab divider, so i didn't have to get out to get in the back, so it was virtually a full walk through van.it was ace and i loved doing the conversion and using it, the engine was a troublsome bugger and i wish i'd fitted a full recon motor, but apart from that it was a top comfy race bus.Good luck with yours, just think really hard about how it will work!I find going down the pub with your mates with a pencil and piece of paper and having a brain storming session is a great way to think up some novel ideas

Any hints, things to avoid?Me Da is doing one at present. Bought an 04 LWB Hi top Relay and is modelling it ona a Murvi MorelloFinding a central point was the hardest thing as the roof spars are just tacked in! Then he bought insulation as this alters floorheight etc. So I'd reckon on doing this first. He has the worked on cabinets and storage as everything else goes into this. He is making mock ups out of old ply and will buy goood ply and overlay it with a covering or buy a good laminat eboard, but is undecided at this point. Building it first is where he is concentrating. He has used some good tools from a fastner place that is so cheap its unreal. I'l get you the info if you want?
