The only reason this has cropped up is I have the rear in bits, if I'm gonna do the fronts braided I aint gonna leave the rear as is when it's in bits, especially as the rubber hoses should be replaced every 3 years. you only need 2 hoses on the front - it's a cheaper, easier, better way to do it. (easier to bleed, better braking too).Fair enough if you've got the rear in bits then replace the hose - but I don't think it's worth it - you don't put enough force through the rear to be worthy of braided hose. (generally that is, imo)
If it's a rubber hose then chances are good that it's the original. While you've got the whole lot apart you might as well replace it, but be aware that braided hoses take away a lot of feel from the brakes and on the rear that needs a bit of care.To get a replacement OE hose it'd probably have to be back-ordered, I can't see dealers stocking them TBH. Take your old hose to a local parts shop and buy the bits and make your own up, it's a doddle.

But one of the ways I was looking at it was not so much the performace aspect, but the service life, how often do you change braided hose, if rubber is every 3 years at £10 for the rear and braided is longer than 6 years you may as well spend the extra £8

I change my brake fluid every year - takes about half an hour. I junked the standard rubber hoses after 6 years and fitted braided. You can re-use the original banjo bolts, just replace the crush washers. If you go for twin lines from the master cylinder just use the double banjo bolt off the original splitter at the top.As for braided giving more feel

My rear caliper has seized up, I'm stripping it down cleaning it up and putting fresh seals in.While I'm doing this I'm toying with the idea of braided hoses. Is it worth it? Bear in mind this is a '92 bike so brakes 'aint that hot anyway, I've had the bike for 3 years and don't know when (if) they have been changed. Whats the life of a brake hose and are original rubber ones expensive? I don't see the point in paying Suzuki £25 per hose for original rubber ones when Goodridge are only £30 for braided.What would you recomend?

Go for the braided ones and get SS banjos Just going off this. But mine are prolly OEM which means they'll be 12 years old. Who knows I may end up with this bike for another 12
