1985 Championship double - Freddie Spencer
By Bertie Simmonds on 26/02/2008 13:25:00
In 1985, 'Fast' Freddie Spencer did something unique in the motorcycle racing arena - the 250cc and 500cc World Championship double
. From there we had the genius of Satoru Horiike who did much of the work, with Oguma-san backing him up with commitment from the factory. Horiike developed that 250 from pretty much zero."Continue Freddie Spencer's 1985 championship doubleDID YOU

Road Test: I am not a number
By Bertie Simmonds on 19/04/2008 22:21:20
If only bikes were available on prescription to combat the misery of the Great British Winter
rolled up on the GoldWing, sparked up a Marlboro and nodded to the BM."Not so sure about those bikes. I had to ride one over the Pyrennees in sub-zero temperatures a year ago and I thought that its handling was weird."Great.He had a smug grin on his mush

Used Review: Kawasaki ZX-9R (B1 - F2P)
By Bertie Simmonds on 05/04/2008 16:32:53
Kawasaki built a Blade beater for 1998, just in time for Yamaha's R1 to trump the pair of 'em. But all was not lost - the ZX-9R drew a dedicated following.
now, with a little bit of searching, you can find a zero mile ZX-9R, brand-new for £6200. That's a whole lotta bike considering the last B-model was sold for almost ten grand new.Continue the Kawasaki ZX-9R Used Review

Used Test: Aprilia RSV-R

The original Ducati spoiler is more practical and arguably more exotic too. Plus the spec'd up 'R' version can be had on the used market for as little as £3,000. But beware, she has a few issues up her skirt.
for a number of models and on this one the bleed nipple's not in the best place - for best results remove the caliper before bleeding. Many people don't and the result's a bike with almost zero rear brake.Clutch Can be a drag. Literally. The slave

By Bertie Simmonds on 02/04/2008 17:59:37
25 years in the making and Erik Buell finally makes the bike he always dreamed of: a liquid-cooled V-twin with plenty of poke and handling to die for. So has junking the Harley engines given Buell a new edge?
powerful, liquid-cooled motor and yet all the pleasant quirks and foibles that make Buells a curious joy to ride are there too. Fuel in frame: check, mass centralization:check, Zero Torsional Load front brake disc: check.First impressions are good, thanks

First Ride: Buell XB9S (2002-03)
By Bertie Simmonds on 29/03/2008 23:55:41
"So, gentlemen, as you can see, the new XB9S Lightning is the latest generation in the street-inspired Buell family and a different take on the Buell XB series."
bike. ZTL brakes... Zero Torsional Load brakes set the disc on the rim, so the transfer of forces goes direct to the rims, which means spokes can be lighter. Oil in the swingarm... again, no need to sod about with a separate oil reservoir, as it

Simmonds...letting rip on the new 1125R"Turn six is the left hander before the Corkscrew. You don't need to go to the paint on the entry, hold it around three-quarters of the track width, then bring it back left so you can get the Corkscrew right
