WSB, Nobby Ueda and my KTM RC8R
By Niall Mackenzie on 15/05/2012 11:51:01
WSB last weekend at Donington Park, once again delivered some amazing racing but I'm not sure what Leon Haslam has to do to get that first victory on the BMW. He looked the strongest prospect for the win in race one until Marco Melandri appeared

Maybe the Evo class is the future for WSB?
By Niall Mackenzie on 05/05/2011 14:45:12
Niall Mackenzie ponders...
next year (fourteen new teams have applied) this might the answer. When Yamaha has no title sponsor in WSB or Moto GP and Suzuki are also struggling to compete in both series maybe the Evo class could take the pressure off and allow them to continue

Old boys up front and where are the new 600 Gixers?
By Niall Mackenzie on 28/02/2011 11:55:00
WSB Phillip Island
. Marco Melandri’s 3rd place in race two shouldn’t really have been a surprise either as his last Moto GP victory was at this very circuit in 2006. I have no doubt our six factory backed Brits will muscle their way up the pecking order when WSB returns

The short but sweet life of the Yamaha R7
By Niall Mackenzie on 17/01/2012 15:39:42
It didn't win any BSB races but I love it all the same
coming at WSB round at Brands in 1999 until my rear tyre shredded with a podium position on the cards. Noriyuki Haga took his factory backed West R7 to much greater heights the following year with regular WSB victories as he battled throughout the season

First Ride: 2007 Yamaha YZF-R1
By Niall Mackenzie on 28/09/2007 15:17:05
First out of the blocks for 2007 and hoping to stay there, Yamaha's new R1 looks the goods. But is it? Who better to say than Niall Mackenzie, ex-GP god turned mortal.
with better power delivery, all while keeping it the right side of the Euro 3 regs.So who did Yamaha turn to for help with the development? With a MotoGP title and a few WSB race wins it's hardly surprising that much of the latest R1's development has come

Ducati 1198 and 1198S review
By Niall Mackenzie on 29/03/2010 11:29:09
Niall brushes elbows with Troy Bayliss at the launch of Ducati’s new big-bore superbike. It’s a monster machine that will put hairs on the inside of your eyelids, let alone your chest...
Click to read: Ducati 1198 owners reviews, Ducati 1198 specs and to see the Ducati 1198 image gallery.Ducati did a good job keeping this one quiet. Even when launch invitations are sent out without stating the model to be launched you can normally take an educated guess as to wha...

Donington Park and the Roman rebel.
By Niall Mackenzie on 31/03/2011 11:03:39
Max and his latest tantrums.
We know the sun always shines on the righteous and that’s exactly what happened last weekend at Donington Park. Yes its good honest people back in charge of the Derbyshire circuit so we saw summer sunshine for Friday’s free practice and also for WSB

Niall Mackenzie column - Mar 2006
By Niall Mackenzie on 01/03/2006 11:06:28
Niall looks forward to the future of Virgin Yamaha on Pirelli tyres
, that might be your season over before you've even begun."But I have to say that Virgin Yamaha might have the last laugh. Pirelli is no second-rate company and I reckon from just the WSB testing already that the new product is showing a good pace. Rob's deal

Niall Mackenzie Column - Feb 2007
By Niall Mackenzie on 01/02/2007 10:27:32
A South African experience has seen Niall Mackenzie return a changed man. It could have been "I'm an ex-GP racer, get me out of here!" But no, Spuds concedes, Ducati are the boys
and move on. I used to think for them to stay competitive in WSB they had to keep increasing their engine capacity, and when they reached 1000cc they would be stuffed. Well I should have realised a long time ago this wasn't the case as their WSB engines
