Visordown regular 1doohan's Cannonball report
full tank for the start of the "rally" where i bumped into Rolf an entrant from last year on his same bike, V-Max. The hotel is at the top of a big hill overlooking the town below where we can watch the bikes arriving. On arrival all of the foreign

Road Test: Tornado RS V Ducati 999S V MV F4 1000
By Jon Urry, Tim Cummings on 13/04/2008 13:21:13
Once the preserve of the mega rich, these first-generation Italian superbikes can now be snapped up for less than the cost of a new sports 600. Here’s the deal.
. Servicing itself is quite involved. Every 4,000 miles it needs five hours of skilled labour and every 8,000 it’s a valve service and you’re looking at eight hours labour. MV dealers tend to be top-end places and £50-plus an hour labour charges aren’t unheard

American Muscle - Yamaha V-Max
By Jon Urry on 09/09/2009 17:39:26
In 1985 Yamaha launched an unashamed brute of a bike. Born on the drag strip the V-Max was a mass of metal and chrome which instantly drew a cult following. Now, 23 years on, does the old master still command any respect?
are, impressively managing to combine a total lack of feel with a uniform lack of stopping power. Heading out of town I settle into a steady 50mph cruise, soaking up the Vmax feeling. Its whole persona as a mean and moody bike starts to rub off on you

By Jon Urry on 13/04/2008 13:09:52
We destroyed Australia in the rugby World Cup, and quite possibly that’s all that matters. To give our underdog team a bit of extra support, TWO took the backroad route to France on a Kawasaki Versys, a Yamaha MT-03 and a Suzuki 650 Bandit...
kick at any revs. For fun and exciting riding it’s not the best, but it is hard to moan too much about the Bandit when you remember the price tag.The next morning, with wigs at the ready and England tops hidden under our jackets, we headed into Nantes

Workaday middleweights sprout wings to prove their worth on a potter to Brussels.

Rockers Roll
By Alex Hearn on 12/10/2007 11:17:04
Reliving a past they never had on machinery they didn't own first time round, Alex, Jon and Jim indulge in a spot of nostalgic old school cool. Let's go retro
Circular. It was a transport cafe, and back in '50s and '60s Britain it existed to dish up tea and fry-ups to lorry drivers. It, and many like it, had a jukebox, which played rock 'n' roll records - a big deal at the time, because you couldn't get rock 'n

Living with a 2005 Suzuki DR-Z400SM

Urry loons around on the supermoto DR-Z400
, maybe five minutes, if that. Anywhere inside the M25 is a 50mph limit anyway.People always say that supermotos are great town bikes, something I haven't necessarily agreed with up to now. I usually find that the wide bars are at just the right level

Living with a 2002 Aprilia RSV Mille R
By Bertie Simmonds on 12/12/2002 11:48:54
Did Bertie get on with the RSV Mille R, read on for his longterm verdict...
. Five thou in top still equates to around 80mph so things weren't too bad, but having such a bella machine and only being able to take her to half of the normal rev range is a feeling akin to only being able to stick the tip of your John Thomas in your

By Jon Urry, James Whitham on 26/05/2008 21:03:41
Is WSB exciting right now, or what? JT's Blade neck and neck with the R1 of Nitro and Troy C. Not to mention Max and the new K7. But what of the road bikes that lie beneath? Yes, what of...?
but ridiculously fast at the top when it kicks in - not something I want in a litre bike. Also the throttle response seems really snatchy going from a closed to partially open throttle, which is odd because the fly-by-wire system that Yamaha has developed

Riding in the Dark

Tips on how to sharpen up your night riding
the top of the visor is tinted, and the bottom 2/3rds is clear, and I'm quite keen on those. Alternatively carry a clear one and swap it or you wear sunglasses which you can take off. Use common sense. The second obvious area for improvement. Check
