It’s Triumph best selling bike, a style icon, movie star and it’s still only 14 years old. Life is anything but dull with the Speed Triple as Jon Urry finds out on the roads of Lanzarote.
quite a lot of time riding all of the current large naked bikes I’ve developed quite a soft spot for the Speed Triple. It’s not the best handling bike in its class, that award goes to the 990 Super Duke, but it’s got the best road manners of the bunch

wasn't on a Ducati 998. But that's the point with the Mille for me - it's got some of the kudos of the Duke with only some of the back pain. The whole trip was completed with a bit of back and shoulder pain as a constant backdrop, but on the twisty bits

What would get you out of bed an hour early in winter just to play on deserted roads? try the new KTM 990SM or Ducati’s Hypermotard. It certainly worked for us...
long distance touring is possible (panniers and a tall screen are an optional extra), with the Ducati it’s short-hops only. But, what else would you have expected? Just looking at the tiny Duke gives you a clue to its purpose. We set off down the A272
