Icon - Todd Carty
By Bertie Simmonds on 28/11/2002 16:55:23
East-End Veg Man
Todd Carty has always been cool. Okay, so he's played miserable fruit and veg seller Mark Fowler for the last 12 years in BBC1's East Enders, but in most of the characters he's played on our TV screens he's ridden a bike. Oh, and go back to 1978

Used Review: Suzuki GSX1400
By Bertie Simmonds on 10/04/2008 19:10:37
It looked like a pit-bull, even if it was more of a lap-dog to ride. Blessed with good looks and mucho torque, Susuki's GSX1400 has proved to be a popular retro bruiser bike in used circles.
and rear - making the GSX a popular choice with couples. A fly screen improves comfort. You've got six bungee hooks and a 10.8 litre space under the seat.Aftermarket partsScreens are the number one, pipes, bikini fairings, wavy discs, swingarms

Used Review: Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird
By Bertie Simmonds on 05/04/2008 22:11:44
Ten years ago the Super Blackbird was celebrated as the fastest and most powerful thing on two wheels. Now, it's 'just' a very fast, big, sports tourer with an enviable reputation for quality.
complain the big Honda is not a perfect fit for them. Many fit padded seats, bar-risers or alter the footpegs. Double-bubble screens are also popular. Honda will be listening to this, so expect to find the company's 'Just Fit' philosophy seen on the CBF

Used Test: Aprilia RSV-R
By Bertie Simmonds on 10/04/2008 19:28:42
The original Ducati spoiler is more practical and arguably more exotic too. Plus the spec'd up 'R' version can be had on the used market for as little as £3,000. But beware, she has a few issues up her skirt.
is.Comfort Much better than you'd think. Plenty of people owners see it as a fast, single seat sports tourer. The riding position's roomy, the fuel range acceptable, the seat's not too harsh and the screen effective. It's never going to be a Gold Wing

Road Test: Kawasaki ZZ-R600
By Bertie Simmonds on 28/05/2008 22:54:45
Like Barbara Windsor, it hasn't been considered sexy for years. So what's kept the ZZ-R600 on Kawasaki's books all this time? It's the fastest, squashiest, flying sofa has ever seen, that's why...
to the bars and pegs feels natural. The screen and fairing work very effectively too.14.Aftermarket parts: With a 16-year life span, parts for the ZZ-R are not in short supply. Popular modifications illustrate the bike's wide appeal: you're just as likely

Living with a 2003 Kawasaki Z1000
By Bertie Simmonds on 12/07/2003 15:18:14
Uncertainty soon turns to attraction as the big Zed wins over Bert
? Or even a big retro? A weekend with Kawasaki's ZRX1200 saw me handle the motorway miles (the screen works on that Kawasaki...) and still get smiles in the curvy bits. Looks as good in green too... Anyone selling a ZRX1200 out there? Cheap, mind

By Bertie Simmonds on 05/04/2008 17:38:51
Yesterday's supersports screamers are still duking it out on the used battlefield. Under cover of sunshine, Bertie advances on middle England with a bunch of war veterans to find out who still cuts the mustard gas.
/Power Commander but only if fitted properly by someone who knows what they're doing. Otherwise a potential liability or at the very least a waste of time and moneyCrash bungs stop you forking out huge sums for fairings/indicators/bar-ends/mirrorsScreens double

Living with a 2001 Honda CBR929RR Fireblade

Former TWO magazine editor, Bertie Simmonds, talks about his experience of owning a Honda CBR929RR Fireblade
of Man for this month's big road test. The first 2,000 miles has certainly shown the Blade's practical side. Underseat storage hides my huge Oxford locks and the seating position and Honda-supplied bubble screen keeps me comfy - shame there's no integral
