First Ride: 2002 BMW R1150GS Adventure
By Alex Hearn on 29/03/2008 17:09:26
Straight off the bleary early morning flight into a sodden Malaga and first sight of BMW's new R1150GS Adventure knocks me out with a hammer blow of sheer presence - it's big.
rivers, slid and slithered sideways at 70mph on some very unmade roads and generally had a spectacular laugh. And the GS? Coped with the lot. Yes, it's big but keep it balanced and its weight drives the tyres hard into the loose ground, finding the grip

First Ride: 2005 Yamaha YZF-R6
By Roland Brown on 31/03/2008 21:51:49
A number of performance-enhancing tweaks make this year's R6 a faster and more exciting proposition. Riding tips from Valentino Rossi not included...
of the Valencia circuit's infield.Less than an hour ago I was walking round this turn while Rossi pointed out his line and reference points in his familiar sing-song English. Now I'm trying to put what he said into practice aboard the 2005 YZF-R6 which, while far

First Ride: 2006 Ducati GT1000
By Alex Hearn on 22/09/2010 11:10:10
Ducati's Sport Classics are retro cool but about as comfortable as an Indian bus ride. Now, with added comfort, comes the GT1000.
than 70mph with harsh suspension and aggressive clip-ons.So not a bike for a casual ride, then. Oh no. I know, because I was going to hoof mine 500 miles from where I was in France to the Ducati plant in Bologna on some sort of dewey-eyed romantic road

Road Test: BMW R1200ST
By Jon Urry on 24/04/2008 21:42:44
The rain in Spain fell mostly as snow. Jon Urry discovers it's not all glamour in this job as he tests BMW's new sports tourer.
was there. The usual sunshine that accompanies a trip to Spain was missing, and instead the whole of Europe was gripped by a cold spell. Because of this I won't pretend to have tested the bike to its limits; it simply wasn't possible. The ride home, however

First Ride: 2008 Ducati Hypermotard
By Jon Urry on 27/05/2008 22:54:55
Ducati enters the supermoto scene with a bang. That'll be the mirror on a car's door then...
than me.Aggressive, minimalist, exciting and thrilling to ride is how Ducati is billing the Hypermotard. It may have essentially the same chassis and engine as the Multistrada but that's where the similarities end. The Hypermotard is the Mr Hyde

Aprilia RSV4 Factory versus 2009 Honda Fireblade
By Visordown News on 07/06/2009 11:09:13
After glimpses of brilliance on the bike's wet launch at Misano, Visordown has finally tested the new V4 Aprilia back-to-back with the best 1000cc sportsbike out there, Honda's CBR1000RR Fireblade
Factory is too small and far too firm, both of suspension and of seat, to be road-practical in any rational sense, but when you actually get to the bits of road we ride for, those dry, well-sighted corner-complexes miles from anywhere, the Aprilia

2010 BMW R1200GS-ADV launch test review
By Richard Hallett on 02/08/2010 09:35:31
The bike that defined the Adventure market gains some extra grunt for 2010 to help it deal with the rough terrain of the Gobi desert. Or a gravel drive in Epsom
of early 21st century biking. After all, they power more than half of the BMW motorcycles sold and are practically synonymous with adventure riding.Riding any GS it is easy to see why the boxer layout suits the bike’s purpose; power delivery is punchy

2010 Kawasaki Versys launch test review
By Mark Forsyth on 02/08/2010 10:50:20
Dependable do-it-all gets a facelift and a suspension twaeak. Mark Forsyth rode the new version to bring you chapter and verse
who want a do-it-all runabout. The Versys snared a lot of sports bikes types fed up with dodging speeding convictions and even trail bike riders who, when they were honest with themselves, never actually used their bikes off-road at all. Practical

Aprilia RSV4 Factory vs. The Diamondback
By Larry Cornwell on 16/09/2010 12:17:39
Our American correspondent Larry Cornwell pitches the RSV4 Factory against The Diamondback. Fear and fun guaranteed
Factory is fast everywhere and I do mean everywhere even wet mountain roads. Twisting the RSV4 Factory up to 100mph was a common occurrence. In fact, 100 mph was reached on every ride during this test, some happening without effort. The RSV4 Factory did

fun, too.Because my eldest lad has now taken to the road it's given me the opportunity to ride lots of different learner models as we hunt for a likely candidate and, guess what, that Rieju name crops up again. The Rieju RS3 125LC looks drop
