Remember push starts?
By Niall Mackenzie on 18/11/2011 12:30:10
The best techniques explained-Japanese style.
Alongside the most stunning collection of race and road bikes at their Motegi museum, next to some race bikes, Honda also has a step by step guide on most aspects of riding. I photographed the wonderful text on push starting but I also have lots of equally hilarious instructions ...

First Ride: Triumph Daytona 600 review
By Niall Mackenzie on 14/09/2010 12:52:38
Triumph has gone back to the drawing board and built a Japanese beater. Niall Mackenzie travelled to Spain to test the Triumph Daytona 600, and came back impressed
be higher at speed and with the ram air effect. It's definitely a more realistic figure than the frankly ridiculous claims of the Japanese manufacturers.Click to read the final page of Triumph Daytona 600 review.

Niall's Spin: 2005 Kawasaki ZX-6R review
By Niall Mackenzie on 17/09/2010 15:56:04
The two-year development cycle the Japanese manufacturers all follow for their sports bikes means previous models can quickly be forgotten and the ZX-6R is a case in point
Click to read: 2005 Kawasaki ZX-6R owners reviews, 2005 Kawasaki ZX-6R specs and to see the 2005 Kawasaki ZX-6R image gallery.I've seen some recently at bargain prices and with tempting finance deals, and you could do a lot worse than snap one up as the ZX can still live with any...

Back in the day, the All Japan 500cc Championship at Tsukuba
By Niall Mackenzie on 24/06/2011 10:38:56
500 GP bikes may have been scary but I wouldn't have had it any other way.
enjoyed a head to head battle with national hero Tadahiko Taira. Yamaha’s favourite son at the time, ‘tie wrap’ as we liked to call him, was taller and better looking than most Japanese riders (maybe a war baby?) and went on to win nearly everything

Niall Mackenzie Column - Feb 10
By Niall Mackenzie on 20/02/2010 10:48:24
Niall comes out as the only supporter of traction control in racing and hooks up with his old Grand Prix buddy, Nobby Ueda. Now there’s a man who needed traction control
Grand Prix buddy recently, Nobby Ueda. You may remember him as the smiling Japanese 125GP rider with the milk bottle glasses. In between some of the biggest highsides I ever witnessed he managed 39 podiums including 13 GP wins. During his twelve years

Cash Machines - MV Agusta F4 312RR, Ducati 1198S, KTM RC8R, Aprilia RSV4 Factory
By Niall Mackenzie on 12/04/2010 11:48:18
Expensive, exclusive, esoteric and bordering on erotic, the latest quartet of exotic Europeans are only for a select few
consider to be Ducati’s best ever sportsbike. What did become clear was that, unlike the four Japanese 1000cc superbikes, each of our exotic toys had incredibly individual characters that told the rider what it wanted to do and where it wanted to do it

Niall's Spin: Ducati 999R review
By Niall Mackenzie on 17/09/2010 15:11:26
When a racer has to pick a favourite circuit it will normally be one where he has enjoyed some success
more evolution.Physically this is a much easier bike to ride than the Japanese 1000s so you can ride harder for longer - handy if it comes down to beating your mate on the final track day session. She may be expensive but included in the price is top

Niall's Spin: Suzuki DL1000
By Niall Mackenzie on 30/09/2010 13:51:14
The DL1000 may do everything you may want it to but may lack in the excitement you want
-proof Japanese reliability. All good news but I've never found riding V-Stroms a particularly inspiring experience. The engine, which is a detuned TL1000 motor, gives good mid-range power between 4000 and 6000rpm allowing easy overtaking without constant gear
