Road Test: Suzuki Bandit 1200 VS 1250
By Jon Urry on 13/04/2008 13:34:51
With a cult following that makes Scientology look like a small book club gathering, Suzuki’s Bandit 1200 has brought big-bore grunt to the biking masses. Does the new water-cooled engine continue this reign, or relegate it now to a forgotten religion?
Ask most riders what bike they think did the most to define the 1990s and they will probably say Ducati’s 916, Honda’s FireBlade or Suzuki’s GSX-R750. Which is fair enough, as those have always been the attention grabbers, but there is a bike

Five middleweights and a bunch of lightweights head off for the perfect pint of real ale in the UK's best pub.
's Hornet, a Suzuki SV650 S and two new Kawasakis -the ER-6n and Z750S.Our test route kicked off with a bracing 100 motorway miles before we cut across the rump of Norfolk and the Fens by back road, followed by a run into Norwich Central. In other words

First Ride: 2004 MZ 1000S
By Jon Urry on 30/03/2008 21:29:42
From the Eastern Block to the East End, MZ has come a long way. But can the firm's new MZ1000S sports tourer really take on the likes of VFR, Sprint and ST3?
the Mastiff and is identical bar styling and enduro wheels and knoblie tyres.Rivals:Honda VFR800: £7849 The current king of sports touring. The VFR is a top tourer and an excellent back road play thing. The tank range is a bit poor mind.Triumph Sprint ST

Road Test: Tuono v Duke v Brutale v Speed Triple
By Jon Urry on 27/04/2008 21:07:12
In search of naked satisfaction our lads strip down, strip off and head to the seediest street in Europe, Hamburg's Reeperbahn.
to start looking for fuel when the trips hit 90 miles. With nearly 500 miles to cover that day we could have done without this slight setback, but any road trip always has minor delays. And this wasn't even the first of the day. Bizarrely, our first

First Ride: Ducati 1098R
By Jon Urry on 10/04/2008 21:09:57
If you can’t beat them, get the rules changed so you can then build a bike with all the bits you need to dominate the racetrack out of the box. Ducati’s 1098R is pure WSB homologation magic...
Termignonis. The traction control certainly isn’t a gimmick, racers will exploit its full potential and for road riders and track day enthusiasts it’s a great safety net and confidence boost. How effective it is I’m yet to be convinced by, I’d like to test

First Ride: Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa
By Jon Urry on 02/04/2008 18:24:39
With a tyre-shredding 194bhp on tap and a fully revised chassis the original Hypersports bike is refusing to grow old gracefully. Hold on tight, because the 'Busa is back and is meaner than ever...
'90s when it was withdrawn from the GP calendar due to organisers deciding that its sheer speed, not to mention the proximity of Armco barriers, were a safety issue. Sounds like the perfect spot to test out the world's fastest production bike to me

KTM RC8 vs. Ducati 1098 - Euro Fighters
By Jon Urry on 22/10/2010 11:55:07
KTM's plan could be seen as audacious; take on the benchmark boss, Ducati’s 1098. So, should Ducati be scared?
The end of a very long road is in sight, and I’m actually quite nervous. In my hand I have the key to the beautiful, yet slightly menacing-looking white bike that sticks out from the row of Japanese sportsbikes it currently nestles within. I’m about

Road Test: R1200GS v Bandit 1200 v Sprint ST v FZ1
By Jon Urry on 18/05/2008 22:27:57
Can an ageing, bum basic £5299 all rounder really offer the best of all worlds against a raft of higher priced, specialist competition? Read on to see where the smart money lies
in a balanced chassis with cool looks made this the sales success of 2005. When we tested it against the other sports tourers we rated it well ahead of Honda's VFR800, so it really is a sports touring benchmark. And finally there's the BMW R1200GS
