Discuss: What's harder to ride properly fast; 600 or a 1000?
By Visordown on 21/02/2010 14:44:00
Which is harder to ride properly fast, the crazy power of a 1000cc Superbike or the precision of a rev-hungry 600? We ask you, dear Visordown reader
know that I’m less likely too lose my licence whereas I would love a 1,000 but would do myself in. You can get away with a lot more on a Six. If you want the best of both go for a 750, it’s always funny how people with thou’s over-cook it showing off

American Muscle - Yamaha V-Max
By Jon Urry on 09/09/2009 17:39:26
In 1985 Yamaha launched an unashamed brute of a bike. Born on the drag strip the V-Max was a mass of metal and chrome which instantly drew a cult following. Now, 23 years on, does the old master still command any respect?
Vmax with ‘beefy’ 43mm forks, the original had 40mm ones!Having survived the Peak District I was about 10 miles from DK’s showroom when it started to drizzle with rain. Pulling away from a set of traffic light the engine sounded a bit funny, changing

How to ride and enjoy the coast road to Spain
out to be. I found them a truly friendly family, funny, engaging, and extremely generous. We spent the first evening just talking bikes/bullshit over a BBQ and a load of drink on the terrace of this lovely house looking up at the mountains. Nigel had

Rob Hoyles rides the all-new FZ-1 in South Africa
and visual aspect of the Fazer's half fairing - funny how the mind works. Stunt monkey ... he just couldn't resist, could he?Both bikes offer slightly different riding experiences. The naked bike feels more aggressive and more involving, while the faired bike

Road Test: Kawasaki ZX-12R vs. Suzuki Hayabusa
By Warren Pole on 21/04/2008 22:31:36
For what we are about to recieve may the good Lord make us truly thankful because what we are about to receive is more speed than can possibly be good for you as we hop the channel with Suzuki's Hayabusa and Kawasaki's ZX-12
in funny money. The 1999 and 2000 Hayabusas would be the fastest production bikes the world had ever seen and that would be that.None of this stopped Kawasaki from updating the ZX-12 for this year however and although it may not be any faster (186 em

Road Test: 2005 1000cc Superbike Review
By Tim Dickson on 27/04/2008 20:26:21
There's a stretch of autoroute south of Clermont Ferrand that is the perfect tonic to the preceding several hundred miles of motorway monotony - if riding four of the world's finest litre bikes can ever be considered monotonous.
indicator - "a stroke of genius," thought Jon, and more useful than you might think with a slipper clutch and relatively conventional gear ratios.Blimey, that covered a lot of ground. Which is funny because, along with counting the tenths of miles click by

Don't Look Back in Anger
By Bertie Simmonds on 14/08/2001 15:53:42
Four people who have had family members killed in racing, but have dealt with their loss and carried on in the sport that they love
, and for me that's worth 70 years with anyone else.'"Neil: "For me it just put things into perspective and it sounds funny, but it did help in one way. Now I'm much more level headed, some of the insecurities I had before have gone. You don't worry about

Jamie Whitham Column - Dec 2002
By Jamie Whitham on 01/12/2002 12:17:31
An insight into the non-stop world of Whit. Don't mention his RD350LC
entertaining racing. It's a shame that WSB looks like it could be in decline, it needs to be sorted. A week after the race and I had a knee operation to help sort a long-term injury I've had. Funny thing was, Foggy had an identical operation to me and both

Jamie Whitham Column - Nov 2002
By Jamie Whitham on 01/11/2002 12:23:45
Injuries, new contracts, the option of riding a BSB bike and checking out Lancaster Bombers
. Funny how the speed never leaves you, but your bones certainly do as you get older! Next up for me is Imola, after another few bouts of decorating my new house. Might be finished one day...
