Road Test: Kawasaki ZX-12R vs. Suzuki Hayabusa
By Warren Pole on 21/04/2008 22:31:36
For what we are about to recieve may the good Lord make us truly thankful because what we are about to receive is more speed than can possibly be good for you as we hop the channel with Suzuki's Hayabusa and Kawasaki's ZX-12
These are two of the most pointless motorcycles ever. I mean come on, who really wants to do 200mph?Nice idea it may be but it's all so arbitrary. After all, we live in a country where 70mph is the legal limit anywhere and speeding is fast becoming a hanging offence. Given these ...

Living with a 2005 Kawasaki ZRX1200R
By Warren Pole on 15/08/2005 14:37:02
Warren 'Wozza' Pole blagged a Kawasaki ZRX1200R in 2005 and wrote this here review on it
August 2005Ever since Noah were a lad I've been raised on sportsbikes. Others have come and gone, but left to my own devices and I'll be back on a sportsbike before you can say 'shredded licence'.I decided it was time for a change. But to what? I needed something big and fast tha...

Beaujolais or bust
By Warren Pole on 28/01/2008 11:07:59
Four men, four bikes, one quest - to bring home the first bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau 2004 to British shores. The question isn't 'Why?', it's 'Why not?' Allez!
This is a tale rotten to its core with lies, deceit and treachery. Some was small, some considerably larger, but all resulted in four of us riding into deepest France in hostile conditions on a motley selection of motorcycles before racing back clutching bottles of freshly-releas...

Road Test: ZX-9R vs. VFR vs. 955i
By Warren Pole on 20/04/2008 22:06:20
On the face of it, this is a pretty odd bunch of motorcycles. Take the motors for instance - a 781cc V4, an 955cc inline triple, and an 899cc inline four. Hmm, not exactly the most comparable bunch on the planet.
But then these bikes are a bit of a mixed bag. There's the ZX-9R, whose normal habitat these days is being shot to pieces in a group test with the FireBlade, R1 and GSX-R1000, the VFR which can generally be found romping off with the sports touring crown whenever that little test...

Road Test: CBR900RR vs YZF750 v TL1000s V BMW 635i
By Warren Pole on 20/04/2008 21:43:23
£2,500 gets you a lot of motorbike if you use your noggin these days. We did just that and landed a trio of minto sportsbikes. Then we got a Beemer for the same miserly sum just for comparison's sake
"Like the mag lads," said the bloke to us in the office's local pub, "but why don't you test secondhand bikes? Not all of us can afford the new stuff you're always on about." And he had a point. So in the interests of research I asked him how much he'd spend on a bike if he were ...

Road Test: Suzuki GSX-R750 History
By Warren Pole on 22/04/2008 19:34:55
Suzuki's GSX-R750 snapped up the TWO Bike Of The Year Award 2004 last month. To mark the occasion, we celebrate 20 years of three-quarter litre lunacy with every generation of GSX-R 750
The year was 1984. Frankie Goes to Hollywood were winding the establishment up by telling everyone to 'Relax', Margaret Thatcher was embroiled in a Mexican standoff with Arthur Scargill and his miners, and the humble halfpenny coin bade farewell to the back of sofas everywhere as...

Road Test: CBR954RR vs. ZX-9R v GSX-R1000 v YZF-R1
By John Cantlie, Warren Pole, Niall Mackenzie, Gus Scott on 21/04/2008 21:16:18
Another year, another choice selection of 1,000cc sportsbikes. But this year is a particularly good vintage as Yamaha, Kawasaki and Honda try to close the gap on Suzuki's all conquering GSX-R1000 of 2001.
Doesn't matter how many times you say "smaller bikes are more fun because you can thrash them harder," or "I'm getting bored of the latest supersports thing to come out of Japan - they're all the same." You know deep inside that you're talking utter bollocks. You may say these th...
