James Whitham Column - Dec 2007
By James Whitham on 14/12/2007 16:05:18
The horror loos of Vallelunga
of the Mont Blanc tunnel the ferry ticket and road tolls in France had ravaged our meager resources. By Milan all the dosh, and the biscuits had run out and we’d resorted to ‘service station foraging’ (stealing diesel out of trucks) to keep the van going. We

Niall Mackenzie Column - Jul 2007
By Visordown News on 01/07/2007 19:19:33
Did you know Spain's motorcycle federation has banned its riders from competing in the TT these last 37 years. Neither did we, but Niall's taking up the cause for a rider's right to choose
the track stays the same every lap, you won't ever die of dehydration (plenty of Okells) and should you break down you won't be raped and pillaged by bandits that appear from nowhere. Okay, there might be a daily ferry from Liverpool but on this occasion

First Ride: Honda ST1300 Pan European
By Oli Tennant on 13/09/2010 12:29:40
Visordown snapper Oli needed a rugged pack-horse to go to the South of France and back while chasing two hypersports bikes. He chose Honda's new-for-2002 Pan-European ST1300
when it weighs 283 kilos (seven more than the non-ABS version) and has another 60kgs of camera and camping gear attached. Still, by the time we'd blundered towards the coast to catch the 7am ferry from Calais, I was getting to know the beast. Wozza

Milking Cowes - Hornet 600, Z750, Fazer 600, Street Triple R
By Jon Urry on 14/04/2010 09:55:25
Middleweight streetbikes get hammered round a lap of the Isle of Wight, the island made famous by the Regatta and Level 42
with the choice of either a slog up the motorway to Liverpool to explore the ‘city of culture’ (is it a coincidence that the word ‘culture’ is also used to describe a petri dish containing a germ population?) or a ferry ride and a day out in Cowes, I knew I had

race week.In true rags to riches style, Shuttleworth, the self-styled 'speed demon' eventually gets a factory Rainbow ride and goes on to win the race but not before falling off the ferry, crashing through the pub at Ballacraine, losing his wallet

Flying Armchairs: 2003 Cruiser test
By Alex Hearn on 03/06/2003 13:41:41
Indeed. Relax into the luxurious world of the touring machine as Honda's seminal Wing hitches its skirts and hangs with some twin cylinder company
, you should only ever find yourself doing if you're very late for, say, a ferry as travelling at any real speed on the Harley is a little undignified. Below 65mph the Hog's a beautiful ride, above and the handling gets a little, um, interesting

Living with a 2004 Honda CB1300
By Bertie Simmonds on 12/09/2004 15:56:49
Finally a bike that doesn't look like a Bertie's riding a mini moto. Yes it's the mighty CB1300 review
'threw' the throwover panniers on the bike. Was late for the boat, trying to re-bend the key in the lock. Throwover panniers that you can't throw over safely? Will contact trade descriptions on my return. Finally hook up with a P&O Ferry at Dover and get
