First Ride: 2007 Aprilia Shiver
By Kev Ash on 18/03/2008 20:35:12
The spitting image of Donald Sutherland in bad light, Kev Ash reports back on Aprilia's 750cc Shiver
with riding a prototype was a more pragmatic one: it wasn't road registered, so Aprilia blagged the Fiat group's vast test centre at Bellaco, west of Milan - ideal aside from an understandable car bias manifested as Armco lining every metre of road on both

First Ride: Honda VTR1000 SP-2
By John Cantlie on 29/03/2008 16:21:42
By winning the World Superbike Championship in 2000 in its very first year of production, you could argue that Honda’s SP-1 doesn’t have much to prove. But race development waits for no man, and so for 2002 we’ve got the SP-2.
you could just lean and lean until you fell off. Which undoubtedly you could if you really fancied. However, unlike the model it supercedes, the SP-2 has a far more positive feel from the back end.I can’t comment on the Honda’s behaviour on the road

First Ride: 2006 Ducati GT1000
By Alex Hearn on 22/09/2010 11:10:10
Ducati's Sport Classics are retro cool but about as comfortable as an Indian bus ride. Now, with added comfort, comes the GT1000.
than 70mph with harsh suspension and aggressive clip-ons.So not a bike for a casual ride, then. Oh no. I know, because I was going to hoof mine 500 miles from where I was in France to the Ducati plant in Bologna on some sort of dewey-eyed romantic road

Road Test: BMW R1200ST
By Jon Urry on 24/04/2008 21:42:44
The rain in Spain fell mostly as snow. Jon Urry discovers it's not all glamour in this job as he tests BMW's new sports tourer.
was there. The usual sunshine that accompanies a trip to Spain was missing, and instead the whole of Europe was gripped by a cold spell. Because of this I won't pretend to have tested the bike to its limits; it simply wasn't possible. The ride home, however

Aprilia RSV4 Factory versus 2009 Honda Fireblade
By Visordown News on 07/06/2009 11:09:13
After glimpses of brilliance on the bike's wet launch at Misano, Visordown has finally tested the new V4 Aprilia back-to-back with the best 1000cc sportsbike out there, Honda's CBR1000RR Fireblade
Factory is too small and far too firm, both of suspension and of seat, to be road-practical in any rational sense, but when you actually get to the bits of road we ride for, those dry, well-sighted corner-complexes miles from anywhere, the Aprilia

First Ride: KTM 950 Adventure
By Roland Brown on 14/09/2010 10:46:49
Light, punchy, fast and capable of genuine off-road excursions, the big new KTM rocks. But there are slight question marks over comfort and vibration
.30 this morning in a downpour, and what should have been a great day's riding both on- and off-road had been marred by almost continual rain more reminiscent of Scunthorpe than southern Spain. The steep off-road course had been abandoned before I reached it

First Ride: Ducati ST3 review
By Jon Urry on 14/09/2010 17:05:37
Ducati's newest sports tourer breaks with convention and now comes with a three valve head instead of the usual four
things you understand. These 'launch gifts' usually bear some link to the bike you're about to test, no matter how tenuous, so on finding the tool roll waiting for me in my Barcelona hotel room I wondered exactly what it was the men from Ducati were

First Ride: 2003 Suzuki SV650S
By Jon Urry on 13/09/2010 15:16:46
The new SV650S has a hell of a reputation to live up to as it steps into the shoes of its vastly popular predecessor
bike has to handle so a sweet chassis is obviously at the top of the list. Then you'd like a motor with enough thrills to keep you amused while not being a pain to use and obviously you'd want brakes that work, decent suspension, a comfortable riding

First Ride: 2008 Harley-Davidson XR1200
By Grant Leonard on 24/09/2010 13:49:31
With the launch of the XR1200, Harley-Davidson has achieved several firsts.
-Davidson Europe, borne almost of a frustration of trying to sell bikes built for the American market to European bikers who expect a minimum level of performance from their motorcycles – performance defined as handling, braking and power delivery, facets that seem

First Ride: 2004 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer
By Jon Urry on 05/11/2003 11:23:19
Having resisted the urge to tear down the hotel curtains and make them into a set of lederhosen, Jon Urry braves rain and ice-rink-like Austrian roads to put Yamaha's new emissions-friendly Fazer to the test
days there I now know Austria is famous for one other thing - roads that turn into an ice rink at the first sign of water.Unfortunately for the launch of the Fazer the Brits brought with them the British weather, so these first impressions are really
