Advanced Riding Course: Body position and knee down
By Niall Mackenzie on 16/04/2010 13:42:58
Motorbikes are designed for the straights, so when it comes to the corners a little help is needed. Good body position can be really effective, making the experience safer and more comfortable
While instructing, I am frequently asked if body position is important? This is only just behind getting asked is it Neil or Niall? For the record, it is Gaelic and apparently pronounced Nee-al, so blame my parents. My Dad was Neil by the way

Niall's Spin - Triumph TT600 (2002-03)
By Niall Mackenzie on 08/10/2010 16:15:13
Originally released as a challenger to the supersport crown held by the CBR600 and R6, the Triumph TT600 never really lived up to it's potential
), but a really, truly, badly designed motorcycle? No. Sorry.Which is why when Triumph's TT600 came along we all had a field day - because it was a howler. Designed to take on the CBR600s and R6s of the day it came up so short it might as well have been

Niall's Spin: Suzuki GSX1300 Hayabusa
By Niall Mackenzie on 11/10/2010 16:35:40
Suzuki's Hayabusa is another motorcycle with a face only its mother could love, with the speed and agility of a dolphin and the looks of a beached whale
machine appear, on the face of it, heavy and bulky. It isn't. For a start, the Hayabusa is very, very fast. One of the Suzuki engineers' design briefs was to whup the Blackbird's arse - which the Hayabusa does, buy a comprehensive, if academic, 11mph (189

Niall's Spin: 2006 Yamaha R1 review
By Niall Mackenzie on 15/10/2010 12:54:16
Niall takes the 2006 Yamaha YZF-R1 for a spin and delivers his review
.If I had bike-designing flair I'd die happy had this R1 been one of my creations. The feline look, posh instrument cluster and stylish underseat pipes are my favourite visual features but the engine and ride is what really excites me. It feels much more

Niall Mackenzie blog number 4
Alien (one of their least scary designs) helmet the other day along with a request for some honest feedback, so here goes. It was lighter than any AGVs I’ve worn recently, just as comfy and the forward vision while tucked in was definitely better

Niall's Spin: BMW F800ST
By Niall Mackenzie on 30/09/2010 14:23:08
Fight off any reluctance and intimidation and unleash your wild side with BMW'S F800ST
important purpose – BMW deliberately designed the F800ST to apppeal to riders who wouldn’t normally consider buying a BMW. And it appears to have worked, as the initial reaction from the public is they like what they see, and the new owners are more than

Road Test: Suzuki GSX-R1000K5
By Niall Mackenzie on 24/04/2008 21:05:24
Probably lighter, certainly faster, but is it any better? Definitely. Niall Mackenzie rides the new GSX-R1000 at Eastern Creek.
underneath. The seat unit is really neat and tidy, and the integrated rear indicators look great, as do the front ones built into the mirrors. And the new fairing design with its interconnecting panels works well. It looks much better than the old, rather

Niall has revisited the Goodwood Revival, looking to improve on his initiation with the Manx Norton
the occasion. Dani Pedrosa take note!Built: 1950-’62Basis: DOHC air-cooled single derived from a 1930s design. The chassis was the breakthrough, using a steel duplex frame with pivoted swingarm for superior high-speed stability – and comfort, hence
