By Jon Urry on 17/11/2010 11:53:24
It’s 1989. Superbikes are on the cusp of being quite brilliant, and Honda’s RC30 and the 851 Ducati are now leading the charge
of British star and current 500GP rider, Niall Mackenzie, a man not unfamiliar with RC30s. As well as owning one himself Niall raced the RC at the Suzuki 8-hour in 1987 and 1988, sticking it on pole in ’88 and leading the race before the engine went bang

American Muscle - Yamaha V-Max
By Jon Urry on 09/09/2009 17:39:26
In 1985 Yamaha launched an unashamed brute of a bike. Born on the drag strip the V-Max was a mass of metal and chrome which instantly drew a cult following. Now, 23 years on, does the old master still command any respect?
’t be far off up to about 80mph. You have to remember that when the Vmax was launched the sportsbikes were Suzuki’s GSX-R1100, which claimed 128bhp, and Kawasaki’s RX1000, which claimed 125bhp. Imagine hearing about a 145bhp performance bike with a V4 engine

By Jon Urry on 26/05/2008 15:41:21
With a price tag of £5549 Suzuki's new Bandit 1250 comes with a huge motor and tons of all-round potential. But is it better than a lightly-used big bore bargain?
, but the other option is to buy smart. Very smart. Which is where the 1200 Bandit comes in. Since its introduction just over 10 years ago Suzuki has been careful not to change the Bandit too much - apart from two slight updates in 2000 and 2006, which mainly

Behind the Iron Curtain with only a BMW R1200GS Adventure for company, Comrade Urry sets out to explore a rapidly changing Moscow

Retro File: 1993 Ducati Monster M900
By Jon Urry on 24/09/2010 15:21:00
The bike that saved Ducati was a design icon, which remained unchanged for 15 years. Forget the 916, the Monster is the bike that made Ducati what it is today
Ducati models, so save cash by scouring eBay. The front light is the same part as a BMW R80 or R100. Ducati charge £180, BMW closer to £30.Warped front discs are not uncommon on Monsters and replacements cost £140 each, but that’s not a patch on the £408
