I've ridden the future and it's 100bhp
By Ben Cope on 17/04/2012 12:08:32
Would a 100bhp limit be the end of motorcycling?
left-field surprise every now and then. Would it be a bad thing if showrooms were full of engines that produce eye-watering amounts of torque not horsepower? I'd be up for it.Is 100bhp all you need? I'd definitely recommend riding a 100bhp restricted

Living with excess: 2006 Kawasaki ZZR1400
By Tim Dickson on 28/03/2010 10:11:42
Special excess: a claimed 197bhp
. The tank holds 22 litres, and a 160-mile range, plus reserve, is the norm. Including top speed testing, London riding and motorway commuting the ZZR averaged 36mpg. Over 50mpg is easily achieved. Remarkable. But that 1352cc inline four belches out heat

First Ride: Ducati Monster S4Rs Testastretta
By Grant Leonard on 05/08/2008 22:17:03
The latest incarnation of the Monster gets a 999 130bhp engine and a chassis to match any superbike. Wide bars, wide attitude, wide grin.
THE FIRST MONSTER I ever rode was, in fact, the first Monster. I rode it at the launch back in 1993, and didn't I give it a good start in life? I loved it - big fun, big wheelies, guaranteeing a great write-up. At the time though, it offended

First Ride: 2013 Triumph Tiger Sport
By Ben Cope on 13/02/2013 22:58:07
Triumph's heavily revised Tiger has gained 10bhp, more torque and a single-sided swingarm but it's the things you don't see that count
WHEN I first heard about the Tiger Sport I thought it was going to be a faster, lighter and more agile Triumph Tiger. Still cuddly but with added bite; a Tiger with more GRR.It's not quite that simple.Forget the 'Sport' name for a moment. This is a

First Ride: Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa
By Jon Urry on 02/04/2008 18:24:39
With a tyre-shredding 194bhp on tap and a fully revised chassis the original Hypersports bike is refusing to grow old gracefully. Hold on tight, because the 'Busa is back and is meaner than ever...
was the star of many rap videos. He then proceeded to declare that the Hayabusa was designed to have the highest performance of any road bike with a whopping 194bhp and 114lb.ft of torque. In an age where speeding is about as socially acceptable as admitting

First Ride: 2002 Harley-Davidson VRSCA V-Rod review
By Bertie Simmonds on 27/03/2008 21:03:21
Harley-Davidson unleash their most important model for 50 years. With a watercooled, 115bhp, 60¡ V-twin motor straight out of their VR1000 racebike, it marks the start of a new direction for the Milwaukee firm. This is big.
, nothing could prepare me for the bike I saw. This is the boldest move for Harley-Davidson in recent history and this is the VRSCA V-Rod.V is for V-twin, R is for racing, S is for street, C is for custom and A means this is the first of a new breed

First Ride: 2008 Ducati 848
By Jon Urry on 17/02/2008 14:42:12
It’s just like the 1098 but smaller, right? Er no, actually it isn’t. Ducati has taken a completely new change of tack with its 848
and although not as fast as a Japanese sports 600 turns much faster than any other Ducati I’ve ridden. My slightly sleep-deprived brain had slipped into Ducati riding mode in the first session and I was instinctively turning it harder, causing the erratic lines
