Er, excuse me, I think that should be GPz900R, with a small"z".

The above picture is of a 1999 A12 not sold in the UK as it has 6 pot brakes and the stanchion guards.

Thanks for correcting the GPz.

Also, the original 1984 UK bike had a different wheel design with a 16 inch front, a longer rear fender and didn't have Ninja written on the fairing.

Far as I can gather it was marketing who wanted to replace the z with a Z to distinguish the zx900 (the official Kawasaki name) as water rather than air cooled GPz being made. The American marketing is aslso credited with renamed the zx900 to the Ninja. So although you can see a few branded zx900’s as GPZ’s and Ninja’s, European marketing stuck to GPz and no ninja stickers until much later on.
