I bought a low mileage (10 000kms / 6000miles) Black/Silver 2004 model after not having ridden for 5 years - and what a pleasure it has been. It is such a mind-blowingly competent machine, it even gives me plea Continue reading...

Simon, my 2004 CBR 1000rr has the same vibration during braking.  I have not been able to trace the cause.  I have changed tires and brake pads and had the head bearings adjusted.  The only other source could be the wheel bearings.  It has been doing this for a long time and I don't worry about it anymore.

I would check the brake rotors and make sure they are not warped.
I own a 04 and have had an occasional front end shimmy when the brake rotors get very hot coming down the mountains from the rim in Arizona into the valley where I can ride at speed and do a lot of high speed braking. I have heard the brake rotors can be a source of front end shake, but only experienced this on long fast hot rides and once cooled off it goes away.
