A return to motorcycling heaven!!

Engine : I have ridden many bikes over the years including the latest must have sports bikes and nothing stirs the soul like the ZZR 1100 engine

Comfort: It does not matter whether I am blasting down motorways, throwing it around A-Roads, or scratching on B's the ZZR is always comfy.

Tank Range: Good fuel consumption and a big tank is a recipe for a great day riding

Looks: That is subjective I know, but for me it is stunning
I really cant think of much. It can be heavy when negotiating traffic jam type conditions.

The brakes could be better. When well serviced they are ok but can go off if not kept well serviced

Cost of running: Here it the Philippines the bikes are rare so spares are expensive and even the most basic things have to be ordered.
For me, the ZZR 1100 is the greatest all round bike ever. I have just returned to it after last having one in the late 90's and early 2000's covering 100,000 on them. Was I looking back through rose tinted glasses? Not a bit! Here in the Philippines I had to pay 4000 pounds to get a 95 bike (large capacity bikes here are rare and expensive. What I got was a pristine bike with only 15000 miles. I ride it everyday, and use it as my only transport. It deals with terrible traffic, monsoon rains, 100 degree heat, traffic that makes London look like a deserted race track with ease. I sold a ZX6R to buy it and whilst the ZX6R is a great bike it does not give the riding experience the ZZR does. The bike is super fast by any standard and it is great fun riding with the R1 guys and opening it up and the look on their faces when we stop. They never imagined it could be so quick. It is still streets ahead of bikes that have been built since for the sport touring category. It is one of the few modernish bikes with "soul" when the engine comes on cam, the induction roar fills your head and the wail from the exhausts hits your ears you are in biking heaven. If you have never rode one, do yourself a favour and give it a go. Even if you decide it is not exactly what you are after you will never forget it and will have ridden one of the great future classics. Now you will have to excuse me as I have not ridden it for 2 hours and I need to get back out on the road!! Ha! Ha!

top 90's sports tourer, 20 years on and there are still not many better.

Engine power and induction roar. the viscious circle of speed and anticipation of speed to come

Great ergonomics, all day comfy, eats the miles.
Yes, the bike is heavy by todays standards. But it aquits itself in such a way that riding below 8/10ths is a fuss free affair, and old school muscle will sort out another tenth. Suspension upgrades and brake servicing a must on all zzr1100s.
A truly epic bike, take to time and bravery to master and be comfortable with it and few bikes of its time or since will reward you in the same way. Ridden on uk roads servicing costs are about average, and easy for the diy mechanic

The ZZR1100 is the most complete motorcycle that I have ridden

The engine is fantastic, smooth and quiet at a slow pace and a snarling menace when you open the throttle, you can ride it all day in superb comfort, 1 up or 2 up makes no difference at all, the power is everywhere just twist the throttle and your away. Ultra reliable and home servicing is easy as it comes. Fuel economy is excellent, especially when you think about the available performance that you are sitting on, tyre & chain wear is good, as long as you dont rag it everywhere. The bike is a big brutal sofa on 2 wheels that feels like its jet powered.
its a tad heavy when moving it about, but the weight disappears as soon as you start riding it.
Just the most complete motorcycle you can buy, everyone should ride a ZZ-R1100 once in their life, awesome power, good handling, real all day comfort and good looks. Whenever I park I always get loads of people asking about it and admiring it, it is an iconic bike that is justifiably revered throughout the biking world.

Reminds me of an old girlfriend, quiet and unassuming until you open her up.. then hang on!

Sedate enough around the towns and villages, with the ability for supersonic thrills when opportunity knocks. Great comfort for two-up touring with decent enough range. The looks may be too dated for some, but for those of us who were in our 20's when these machines were built appreciate the relevance.. Girl's trying to prove they were as wild as blokes, Guns N Roses and the ZZR1100 could life have been any better??
Not many.. dodgy fuel gauge.. maybe looks slightly dated compared to modern anorexic thou's but loud exhausts, loud colours and high speed.. whats not to like?
I bought this having had a VTR100-F and a YZF-R1, definitely the best of the three..

i have recently aquired a zzr1100 and to tell you the truth it is mind bending how stupidly fast she is GREAT

needs a little time to get used too. once you are brave enough. bloody fast and can still whip the butt of all those trick 600s and will still turn heads even standing still
feels like brakes need to be better and my opinion it should have been shaft drive
i am pleased to be the owner of a zzr1100 i was going to buy a bandit 12 or an xjr but i got the better deal
