I got mine new in June (2011), this bike had big shoes to fill in replacing my CBR600 F3 (that i owned from new). I've had a few minor issues with it. Will cut out sometimes pulling the clutch in & coming to stop. Guys on some VFR forums said I should up the idle, still does it from time to time though.
Its a very techno bike compared to the F3, but all fuel injected bikes are it seems. In addressing some of the comments by other owners with regard to the VFR's quirks, there is a lot of info out there & most of the problems can be aimed at the PAIR valve (open when you use contant throttle) & the O2 sensors (makes it run to lean). So In the New Year I'm getting a Power Commander & doing the PAIR block, I would be doing this anyway for when I get my Staintunes, but sooner than later I think. Next service will also include a starter valve balance.
I've owned bikes with quirks before & most, if not all of them can be fixed.
Apart from that, It's a good thing, took me a while to get used to the extra weight, but fine now Since my 1st service (Note: non dealership, but mechanic I trust) It goes very well & runs much cooler & is less jerky in traffic. Mechanic said he took up heaps of slack adjusting the throttle, which wasn't noticable to me. Oh & his quote for the 1st Vtec valve adjustment is a 3rd of what the dealers qouted.
Handles pretty well & I do like the Vtec urge, but the F3 did that well before the 6700 RPM. Summing up, I like it, want to love it, but I just can't seem to bond with it. Well see what happens this summer.
