As basic as the come and utterly reliable provided you look after them properly.
These bikes are very robust and are cheap reliable transport.
I have seen them loaded up in the far east with loads that would seem astounding in Europe. In my life i have owned seven of these machines from the early 6 volt versions to the later 12 volt cdi models. On average they return approximately 110 mpg even when ridden hard but sadly have a tiny fuel tank so even those with a modest comute will find thenselves at the fuel station often. A steady 45 mph is more than possible and these little engines will do that all day long with 50 mph if you have a tail wind and nerves of steel.
Let the oil run low and you will pay dearly, most of the engine damage i have seen is due to low oil, and they do use oil especially if they are higher mileage so check it regularly and use a good quality oil. At less than a litre in the sump it does not take long for it to run to dangerously low levels. Yes you hear tales of people who have seized the engines and let them cool down only for them to run fine again, but trust me a lot of damage is done during this process. Lock them up as of the 7 i have owned 5 have been stolen! kids love to nick them as they are good over the fields. beware!
A great comuter bike which has stood the test of time. simple to maintain, cheap to run if you don't mind riding such a plug ugly machine then you will have a faithful companion who will serve you well come rain or shine, yes they do have their weak points but then again, don't we all?

Tough, reliable and unbustable tourer !!
Uses almost no fuel, keeps going through just about anything. May sound silly but as a touring bike, off the motorways, it's unbeatable. Will carry vast amounts of kit and easy to repair without resorting to expensive motorcycle shops.
Looks naff, handling is a little "different" and totally lacks any form of street cred.
The Honda C90 is one of those bikes that keeps you smiling no matter what. Use it as a tourer and don't get hung up on speed and it most likely will never let you down.
