Cool and easy to ride for a newcomer.
Outstanding grip, easy to maintain, awesome brakes, good lights, Ohlins rear shock. Switchable power maps.
Service costs too high and too frequent. Front suspension a bit dull.
As a road rider I was fairly new to off road motorcycling when I bought my G450X. I'm very happy with it. Seems very forgiving although not so my as my Fireblade! Single cylinders take some getting used to and the huge ground clearance is worrying at first but you soon see why you need it. I've never loved falling off a motorcycle so much as when I'm on the G450X on the green lanes. It can be a bit snatchy at times but that just the nature of all big cc singles. It just takes getting used to. The 5mm chain deflection is weird to look at when you are used to seeing 30mm, but you can tell it gives extra traction when the rear suspension is compressing. Seems a great bike all round.
