Does everything you could ask for of a road bike as an all round every day / tourer. Does what it says on tin.

Full luggage is extremely useful as is ABS & linked brakes. Very comfortable with enough power to satisfy most.
Having had Pan Europeans for 7 years which were becoming a tad heavy for me it took a while to settle on the CBF . But having now had the CBF for a year I am content,I can still burn off my wife on her W800.
The economy is very surprising when the right hand is restrained. The comfort is on a par with a Pan , but with less protection from the smaller fairing. On the whole I think Honda has got it right again. The only gripe is it is not shaft drive.

This is the bike I've been looking for all my life.

Superb handling. It loves cornering and does it like it's on rails. It's light weight is a bonus and allows the powerful engine to get you in and out of trouble very easily. The ABS brakes will stop you easily and you know you are in safe hands with them. Easily copes with a pillion (of any weight!) The paintwork on mine is a nice shiny black and this gives it a real sleek look to it. I bought the GT model secondhand with the lower fairing and the top-box and panniers and these go to make it an all round better looking bike.
Its a bit heavy on the juice. And it could do with a bigger tank for more miles. There is no reserve and the petrol gauge is not the most accurate.
I am 6ft tall and I get a bit of buffering from the screen being a bit low. I know I can get an aftermarket replacement but as a touring bike i think the taller screen should come as standard.
Overall this is the bike I have been looking for all of my riding years. It's comfortable, Easy to ride, can give you a thrill if you want it. I have gone from a 1985 VFR750 to the CBF1000 and riding has become enjoyable again. Not that the VFR is not, but it is heavy and the riding position was doing my back in. Now, On the CBF, I sit up and when I get off I don't need to take any painkillers!!!!

A highly capable motorcycle: fast, functional, fun!

This is a very smooth and easy to ride motorcycle. The engine is strong, as befits a 1,000cc Honda four, and pulls from very low rpm round to the redline with minimal vibration. If you're feeling lazy you can effectively ride this bike as a supercharged twist and go, but the gearbox is very slick: the light clutch makes this bike easy to ride in town and is redundant elsewhere. The linked ABS brakes are strong, and the levers adjustable. The suspension appears a bit on the basic side but it all works well enough on South London's pock-marked roads. The pillion seat is comfy too!
Fuel economy around town is poor - I managed to drain the 19 litre tank in 140 miles (I was in real danger of having to push!).
The older Honda heated grips only really generate any warmth on the hottest setting - aftermarket Oxford ones are much warmer and cheaper to boot.
The handlebars seem rather narrow - I may try some wider Renthals.

Finally...having come to this bike from a dry clutched Ducati with Termignoni exhausts, it's very quiet. As a result I'm finding that I'm going quite a bit quicker than I think I am whilst getting used to the bike. Louder silencers needed!
An excellent bike I'm looking forward to getting to know and personalise...

Great bike that meet most of ones needs for lightweight touring

Great handling bike and with adjustable handlebars, seat and windshield you can fine tune things to make it a comfortable ride. It's a 11 second bike so no shortage of power and it's kind of a wolf in sheeps clothing with it's compact size that many riders take think its a 750 or 800
Miss not not having a reserve fuel switch and the seat could use more padding. Most will find the headlight comes up short for long range visibility at night so some type of aftermarket lighting is suggested.
Generally a great sport touring bike when you add the bags and tailbag. Good cruising range and a very agile bike when in city traffic. Love the power range when your working your way through heavy traffic and the ABS brakes to slow you down when you need to.

One of Bikings best kept secrets - A brilliant all-rounder

Engine - smooth, strong with great economy (regularly get 48mpg). Riding position - great with loads of room and a comfy seat. A do-everything machine with no flaws worth mentioning. Honda build quality is outstanding and low service costs
OE Tyres not brilliant but with Road Pilot IIs on handles like a dream - other than that noting else wrong to speak of. Its not the best looking bike in standard trim but the fully-faired GT looks cracking.
Overall practicality, with a sporting streak. Did 700 miles in a day and still comfortable. GT version with luggage = cracking tourer. On the sporting front handling is good enough to stay with a sports bike unless pushing the absolute limits of lunacy - and if you are going that fast you need to be on a track. Owners website (CBF1000.com) is superb with lots of good tech advice if you need it. All in all the biffer will do just about anything while looking very understated - great as it does not draw attention from Her Majesty's constabulary. As an all-rounder you cannot do better.
