I've had two of these (K2 and K4). The models keep improving, but the price tag goes up as well - meaning that there is more competition to look at as well! Continue reading...

After a major crash in 1999 and a VFR750 that liked like it had been through a mincer I decided to get something a bit slower. It also had to take my Wife and luggage touring. I love Vespas and they’re ilk but the thought of travelling at 50 MPH all over Britain was a bit too slow.

The Burgman had been out for a few months and seemed to fit the bill. Large, comfortable and capable of legal motorway speeds all day with a load. A few phone calls got me a new one at £500 below list and I took delivery a few weeks later.

Two years later and 25000 totally trouble free miles I made the massive mistake of swapping it for a BMW R80RT. I wish I still had the scooter (but you can’t look back) it took Me, my Wife and two weeks luggage and camping gear all over England, Denmark and Sweden. Never missed a beat, kept us dry and relaxed and even did a weekly shop when the car died a death. It was a joy to own and work on once the warrantee had expired. 60 MPG was easy only dropping below this if you went mad. Thanks to good handling you could go mad. Almost riding off the edges of the tyres was easy with only the main stand decking out in (I’m told) an impressive shower of sparks telling you to stop being a pillock.

A well built bike when new and I hear that the later ones only got better and better. I would but another one anyday.

I have a Suzuki Burgman AN400 L1 model (2011 61 reg silver)bought January 2012 as an ex-demo bike with 500 miles on the clock.I have ridden it for 7200 trouble free miles, serviced as per schedule 500,4000,and soon 7500 miles.Still on the original Bridgestone tyres,battery/disc pads ok.Very pleased with it,allways look forward to going out and ridding the Burgman!!
