Its ugly. But look beyond that, and this is the most versatile and practical bike I have ever owned.
Everything. The motor is awesome, just open the throttle and waft along for mile after mile, no fuss, no drama, just eating up the road in front of you. Seat is pretty good, but a little hard after many miles, as i am tall I managed to sit on the pillion perch when touring solo, which kinda helps...looks crazy though. Build quality is very good, even if you are not meticulous, the old girl cleans up very easily. I fitted a rear hugger which helped too, recommend that! Handling and brakes ( ABS) are pretty good for a tall bike, trip computer/ mpg indicator etc are brill. Heated grips essential
not many. standard screen is a bit low for me, seat a bit hard, but thats about it...unless you are trying to race it like a sportsbike,in which case, you bought the wrong bike. Its a bit heavy to push around ( even at claimed 199kg dry ), and a bit top heavy, but on the move, it just does everything so effortlessly
My GS was used as my daily comuute for over 2 years, including the winters of 2009/2010. Absolutely brilliant at evrything. As a super tourer of Europe, the GS was unstoppable, brilliant on motorways and very capable over mountain passes. Hard panniers so practical for 2 up touring, you dont need loads of extra accessories. As a bike for just going for a jaunt on Sunday morning, its also very easy and enjoyable, fast enough, honestly. I managed a camping expedition 2 up, the GS coped better than me.
I sold my GS last year, did I shed a tear when she went off on the back of a trailer...you bet I did! A great bike, sorely missed
