Quality, quiet, comfortable lid with some funky useable extras at a reasonable price!
After trying on some rather plush looking 'top of the range' (bloody expensive) helmets, this shiny HJC caught my eye. Blue pinstriping on a solid black base, not so OTT garish at all! I tried it on and it felt so much better around my head than all of the £300+ lids. Lightweight, decent build quality and very comfortable with some neat design features such as 'pump-up' cheek pads for a tighter fit (it works!), and some dark visor/sunglasses that slide down from inside the helmet, so no more sunglare after getting caught out in that low evening sun without the shades!
Can't find any yet, just been out for a ride and it's quiet, fits well, doesn't shake at speed, doesn't lift off from my head, rarely steams up and also hardly any air blowing in my eyes at 'pressing on' speeds!
I always used to choose the coolest, most expensive stuff that usually came with a very large brightly coloured logo emblazoned on it where u couldn't miss seeing it from an earth orbiting satellite, but due to changing tastes, or getting old and looking stupid in these things now, I look for things that work properly now, function over form.
The HJC FS11 is cool. And it works properly. So I guess Im not that old yet.
After trying on various helmets from all over the price range, this felt very comfortable, great vision all around and very well priced. Its relatively lightweight, the visor is easy to open and close unlike some which feel like they would come straight off in your hand or even blow away at anything over 40mph. The 'sunvisor' which slides down inside the helmet by a slider on the back of the lid is easy to operate with summer gloves on and is a useful addition to this lid. It does work well and you won't get caught out again without sunglasses when the sun eventually comes out! The blow up cheek pieces work well too, you don't really notice them working until you let the relief valve down, which I suppose is a good thing!
Definitely would recommend this helmet, even if it were £50 more!
