Bridgestone BT023s tested

6850 hard miles later and the rear is still going!

Bridgestone BT023

Three months ago I fitted a pair of Bridgestone’s latest sport touring tyres to the Speed Triple. I needed some rubber that would cover more than 2000 miles without squaring off. They also needed to be sticky, responsive and most of all able to handle the huge torque the 1050cc triple engine puts out.

Three months and 6850 miles later the rear tyre still has 3mm of tread down the middle.

Overall the grip has been more than enough to satisfy an enthusiastic Sunday rider and the rear could quite possibly cover 8000 miles or more.

So, if you’ve got a big engine and want some tyres that will last then I can’t recommend the BT023s enough.

Expect to pay around £200 for a pair.

Would take me a long time to dare waste 200 quid on a set of bridgestones on my gixxer 750.

I have bridgestones (BT45) on my GPZ500, And even that little motor gives enough power to make them slip off the mark, They dont handle wet weather well and certainly love to scare you on fast corners - They last forever though.

Personaly Id always opt for the Dunlop (YES DUNLOPS!) Roadsmarts, Outstanding performance in the wet - wet knee downs a charm. Can see 6k out of the rear if you ride hard and they warm up/corner/grip and handle like a dream. Again, As I stated, Itd be a long time untill i opt for a pair of Bridgestones on my gixxer 750, But I certainly did opt for Dunlops dispite the reputation.

are you confusing these with Avon roadrunners?

Just for the record I’ve finished with the second set of these now and the rear tyre did 8722 miles down to the limit marker. Pretty good going.
