180mph Canadian speeder's bike seized

But Canadian Police can't charge him as the bike is registered in his mother's name

CANADIAN Police have seized the Yamaha YZF-R1 that was involved in a high speed video that went viral on YouTube.

The video currently has over half a million views since it was posted on April 8th and shows the rider weaving between traffic and reaching speeds over 180mph on the Trans Canada Highway.

Police have yet to charge the rider and have issued fines totalling $1,449 (£900) for driving without due care and attention, speeding and riding without insurance - however these fines have been given to the mother of the 25-year-old rider, as she is the registered owner of the R1.

According to Saanich Police spokesman Sgt. Dean Jantzen they have received little cooperation from the suspected rider and have no power to force him to undergo an interview as he has not been charged with an offence.

The suspected motorcyclist has 27 driving-related convictions, including speeding and driving without insurance, and he currently has no valid driver's licence or insurance.
