ALSTARE SUZUKI man Max Neukirchner says that being back on a bike for the first time since the horrific accident in May that left him with a smashed foot felt surprisingly normal.
The German Alstare Suzuki rider had the support wires removed from his right foot ten days ago and even managed to sneak in a few laps on an IDM Championship GSX-R600 borrowed from series competitor Rene Knofler for a 40 minute session at Sachsenring circuit before leaving for the three-day Imola tests last weekend.
Now the German says that the improvement in his mobility is improving hugely, he said: “The movement in the foot is still limited but greatly reduced. I had some cramping in my right calf during the first few laps.
“I have a lot of work to get through now. I have been trying to get better after the Misano crash as quickly as possible and Suzuki has a lot of parts and ideas it wants me to try.”
The next round of the Championship takes place at Brno on July 26th.
