CASEY Stoner’s first race on four wheels ended in the wall after he flat-spotted a front tyre which eventually burst.

After running inside the top ten in both practice sessions for today’s race in the Dunlop feeder series for the main V8 Supercars championship, Stoner eventually dropped to 12th in qualifying. But the race itself didn’t go so smoothly.

Stoner climbed to 10th place but flat-spotted a front tyre by locking up under braking early in the race, dropped back to 13th. And on lap 12 the tyre gave up the ghost, leaving Stoner’s Holden Commodore VE2 in the wall.

He’ll get another chance tomorrow in round two of the series.
