TEAM KR MotoGP racing team, owned by multiple world champion Kenny Roberts, looks set to miss the beginning of the 2008 MotoGP motorcycle racing world championship.

The team, whose involvement in the 2008 series has been in doubt for several weeks due to financial constraints, lost the backing of manufacturer Proton in 2005 and was badly affected by the introduction of the new 800cc MotoGP rules in 2007 when the team used Honda engines.

Robert’s team had hoped to use Ducati engines in MotoGP this season or to run a factory backed MV Agusta team in the World Superbike Championship but neither deal has materialised.

According to media reports the team hopes to secure sufficient backing to return to the MotoGP series in the second half of the 2008 season.
