THE testing limits placed upon the MotoGP teams is set to change for 2012, with teams being able to test as much as they please on a chosen circuit.

According to MotoSprint, the Grand Prix Commission will approve the proposal to remove the restrictions on factory riders testing throughout the season - the current regulation for the testing of 1000cc bikes only allowed the teams a total of nine days to prepare for next season.

Some limits will remain in place, in particular the amount of tyres used over the year - teams were allowed to use 240 in 2011 - and each factory will be required to nominate a track, where it will be allowed to test as often as they want and with their contracted riders.

Ultimately this move will benefit Valentino Rossi, who has struggled to adopt to the Ducati Desmosedici this season.
