Lorenzo's 'Rockstar' tour of Indonesia

2010 MotoGP Champion takes part in various events across the country

THE REIGNING MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo has just wrapped up his 'Rockstar' tour of Indonesia.

In what is an important market for Yamaha, the presentation of their new champion to the people of Indonesia has seen the Spaniard paraded in various PR events.

The trip around the world's fourth most populous country has also marked Lorenzo's first official appearance in Alpinestars, wearing a set of blue leathers with 'Semakin Di Depan' - Indonesian for 'One Step Ahead' - across the chest, but also there was the additional baseball cap adorned with the logos of the Rockstar energy drink. Quietly revealing Lorenzo's new personal sponsor.

Lorenzo has been subjected to a variety of activies, some odd, during his time in Indonesia; presenting Yamaha's new Jupiter MX moped to thousands of fans - appropriately attired in a spaceman outfit similar to that of his Laguna Seca victory - TV interviews, photo shoots and press conferences. The oddity that stood out was Lorenzo having a wax cast made of his face to be placed at the entrance of one of the world's biggest and fastest rollercoasters in Bandung.

Commenting on his Indonesian tour Lorenzo said: "It's a great pleasure for me to be here in Indonesia again, a place that I love and where people love me. I am honoured to attend the presentation of these two new models, the Jupiter MX and the Lexam, both as testimonial and as Yamaha's ambassador.

"I hope that my presence here gives a strong push to YMKI sales in Indonesia. It gives me great pleasure that my fourth visit to Indonesia is also the first one as MotoGP World Champion and is a way to thank you all for the passion and the enthusiasm you have always showed to me. ‘Semakin Di Depan' is advice I took to my heart last season, staying one step ahead to take the title."

"Thank you Indonesia for making me feel at home, and for treating me like a king!" concluded Lorenzo.

The 2010 Champion is now set to take a one week break in Bali before returning to testing at Sepang from the 1st - 3rd February.
