TECH 3 YAMAHA'S Cal Crutchlow opted to skip surgery on his injured ankle and will still race at Assen despite doctors advising him to rest.

Crutchlow rode an inspired race at Silverstone after fracturing his ankle in a crash in Saturday practice, starting from the back of the grid the Coventry racer cut through the field to finish in sixth position.

After the crash Tech 3 Yamaha said that Crutchlow had sprained his ankle, as the circuit doctors would have stopped him from racing if there was a fracture, it wasn't until Sunday morning he said that he had actually broken it.

Leaving from his home in the Isle of Man for Assen, the 26-year-old posted a message on his Twitter feed saying that following a checkup with doctors the ankle looks better and is recovering well, but is still broke.
