CASEY Stoner has once again expressed a desire to race V8 Supercars, stating that it has been a 'long time dream'.
Since announcing his retirement from MotoGP at a relatively young age, speculation has surrounded Stoner's potential future in professional sport. The rumour that he is gearing up for a move from two wheels to four is one that has refused to go away, and with good reason.
Although unwilling to make any definite statement about his post-MotoGP career, he has given many indications that a move to V8 Supercars is high on his agenda. When asked about the possibility of a future in supercars, Stoner managed expectations whilst continuing to state his interest: "I’ve had a huge passion for V8s. I have to be realistic whether I’ll be quick enough or not to be competitive, but it’s something I’d like to give a go."
The recent announcement that Stoner's sponsor Red Bull is poised to enter the sport - backing current champions Triple Eight racing - has fuelled speculation that a debut on four wheels may be closer than expected...
